What is Vanning

This page is about Vanning and you may be asking "What is Vanning?" It's a group of people from all over the world who owns Vans, and gets together for a weekend or week long camp-outs called Truck-ins or Van-ins & call themselves Vanners. There are a few Van-ins during the winter but here in the USA they are held most weekends from April through October. There is a week long Van-in which is held in a different state each year, usually the 2nd. or 3rd. week of July, called the Van Nationals.

Van-ins are hosted by individual Van clubs and usually begins at 12 noon on Friday. There's a band on Friday night with games/contests during band breaks. Saturday is fill with a variety of activities. There is "Show & Shine" where Vanners who have custom Vans and compete for trophies in different classes, vendors of all sorts, adult game (volleyball, horseshoes, etc.) & children's games. Saturday night the band plays again before & during band breaks, trophies for the "Show & Shine" & games are given out. There are usually game/contests during some of the band breaks also.

The Nationals offer the same except it's larger, longer, more vendors, band or bands each night & games each day.

During the winter months Vanners attend "Hall Parties". These are also hosted by individual Van clubs held at a local hall. There is usually a small band but sometimes the music is provided by a DJ. It's where Vanners can get together to keep in touch with fellow Vanners, and reminisce about past events and basically try to keep from getting "cabin fever" until the next Vannin' season.

There are many clubs out there that you could belong to or you could be an individual Vanner. An individual Vanner likes the Vanning world but does not necessarily want to belong to any one club. They are known as Independents.
